When Henry's eating noticeably less than normal his pops and I have a tendency to panic. That's why the kid was eating pumpkin pie for breakfast this morning. It was the only thing he really showed an interest in. (Although in examining the various videos captured today I noticed Darr was able to sneak-feed Huck a piece of fried egg.) Tonight, we returned to an old favorite, steel-cut oats. Henry worked on feeding himself. And he seemed to really enjoy the freedom. Who knew you could have so much fun with a spoon, eh?

He is way too cute!
Is there something wrong with pie for breakfast? Erin ate apple pie for breakfast post-thanksgiving. We called it "apple strudel" which somehow made it better. And Erin is digging the spoon action too. Keeps her occupied with a carton of yogurt for at least 15 minutes - enough for us to all have a peaceful dinner. And keeps the sofa behind here shiny with lots of over-the-shoulder flung yogurt. These kids!
Looks to me as if it's keeping the spoon away from Dad that's the really funny part. Sounds like a fun game... I should try it sometime.
And I second the idea that there is nothing wrong with pie (especially pumpkin) for breakfast. Or any other meal for that matter. It's got eggs in it, right?
I hope it had whipped cream on it too.
Oh yeah. Pumpkin pie isn't really dessert anyway; it's more like a vegetable side cooked in a round dish and sliced into triangles and topped with cream. 'Pie' is just a clever name here.
So, it's the nutritional equiv. of, say, Broccoli with cheese sauce. Hmm. Maybe that's not the best example.
