Nostrana

815 days ago we went to Nostrana to celebrate our last night of childless freedom. (The next day I was scheduled to be induced.)

Tonight, thanks to Brother Nick and his wife, Megan, who agreed to come over and babysit, Darr and I returned to this most fabulous eatery for a very tasty, much appreciated night out sans child. The plan was to hit dinner and a movie but then we saw steak on the menu and wanted to try it, and, well, you just need more time to consume a tasty bit o' beef. So we splurged money and calorie-wise and enjoyed dinner just the two of us. The irony of being seated next to three families, all with young kids in tow, was not lost on us. Perhaps Nostrana is the kid-friendly place to go for good food on a Friday night. The noise level seems sufficiently loud enough to cover even the most obnoxious screams so we might have to try going back with Monsieur Huck. Our food consumption included Paglia e fieno (spinach and egg fettuccine with house cured ham, shiitake mushrooms, and cream), Bistecca all Fiorentina (Piemontese porterhouse steak, grilled and served rare), and sautéed Winterbor kale. With a bottle of Querciabella Chianti Classico to wash it all down, it couldn't have been more perfect. Yum. For dessert, Darr ate the marmalade and pomegranate panna cotta and I enjoyed butterscotch budino (that's pudding, folks). Many, many thanks to the Glynns for hanging out with the wee one for the evening.

We had fun and would do it again in a heartbeat! We're just sorry you missed the movie! But watching those 2 play or hearing "where's Henry?" or "where's Mia?" while running room to room made it worth while. Plus, bath time will not be forgotten anytime soon (I'm not sure if Nick told stories or not). Plus call on us any time! :) It's the least we can do for the times you've bailed us out! I can't wait to see pictures!

Thank you for reminding me that I want to go there! I just told Mr. K we need to go there before we become a family of five. :)
