For the life of me I cannot get a good sans flash shot at my brother's house and it doesn't matter what I set the white balance to - incandescent, fluorescent, auto.
With flash, the pictures turn out fine. Without, they are hazy and the coloring is off. Not bad, but off. Does anyone know if it is at all possible that my brother's ginormous t.v. is emitting enough light to skew the white balance when that light and the overhead lighting combine?

What happens when the TV is off? I bet the light it does emit is so far off from any other normal overhead light that the camera just doesn't know what to do.
I will automatically say yes...so he'll turn the damn thing off!
even with custom wb? our living room is like that--I think because the room is YELLOW. in fact, the white balance is probably right on--that is what the light in there is like (in our LR, that is). anyway, the flash pictures look great! I don't have any ideas because I am all about trial and error!
