Disneyland recap
Thirteen of Darr's relatives from Canada met us at Disneyland. 13! That's a whole lot of "Eh?" action. Henry was a trooper, spending long periods of time roaming the park with his parents, and he was also very brave, going on his first roller coaster. Over on the Disneyland side, Henry rode the Disneyland Railroad (countless times - DINOSAURS!), Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (2), It's a Small World, Storybook Land Canal Boats, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Gadget's Go Coaster (2), and Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin. In California, we caught Mickey's Fun Wheel (the swinging gondola!), King Triton's Carousel (2 or 3 times), Toy Story Midway Mania (2), Heimlich's Chew Chew Train, and Tuck and Roll's Drive'Em Buggies. Not bad for only three days, particularly since we returned to the hotel at least once a day so Henry could nap. One afternoon Bean fell asleep in my arms on the way to lunch and continued to sleep at the restaurant. I've never been so happy to see bench seating. Our second night there, grandpa took Henry off our hands for a bit before the park closed so Darr and I could get some rides in. Hello, Space Mountain! But we found juggling parenting duties also worked great because it gave Henry some down time - we weren't off and running to the next thing - and it gave Darr and I an opportunity to ride things like California Screamin' and (for me) The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Bwahahaha!). Sadly, the camera threw up an error message and stopped taking pictures after the first morning trip into the park. I was all set to go out and buy a cheap disposable camera when Darr's uncle offered to loan us his work camera that he had in his truck. Phew! Awesome. So, of course there were pictures and you can see 'em here if you want to.

You just made me want to take a trip to Disneyland... nice work.
Well, I can no longer delude myself into thinking that my crappy pictures are because of my camera. I had almost convinced myself that your pictures were so awesome at least in some part due to a snazzy camera. Then you go and take great pictures with a (presumably) less snazzy camera. Sigh. You and Amber put me to shame.
Great pictures! They *almost* make me want to go to Disneyland. How were the lines?
Megan, those pictures are still taken with a digital SLR. I can't find the post that says it, but Christie said she was able to use Darr's dad's camera body.
Rest assured that those of us with less snazzy cameras, still have a good excuse. :)

What lines? I think on average we waited between 5 to 10 minutes for a ride but there were some we walked right into and others (like California Screamin' - not meant for toddlers) we had to wait 25 minutes to get into. Want to go?!

I wasn't sure if I should post this or not because I don't want to sound like a bragger but Darr's uncle's camera is a little old Olympus point and shoot digital camera. I recommend How to Photograph a Baby (link: http://darrenandchristie.blogspot.com/2007/05/pregnancy-changes-in-reading-material.html). I'm a stern follower of rule #3 and having any kind of digital camera makes this extremely easy. I'm convinced, though, that folks like Amber take one picture and have it turn out fabulously the first time.
I read that book, Christie. Or at least I skimmed in my usual fashion of not being overly committed to anything. I suffer from two photographic problems: first, I have no natural eye for a good picture; two, I have little interest in going through any effort to get a good picture. I just want them magically to appear on my blog.
And at this point, I'd like to say to RHG: ha! I was right, I was riiighhht. Na naaaa na na! :)

I looked up nikon d40x and it's a dslr...
ps - I have that book. In fact, I am pretty sure Megan also has that book as I recall seeing it at her house. If I am wrong, she'll probably correct me, albeit reluctantly, I am sure.

Touché. The Nikon crapped out the afternoon of the second day down there so the photos in the beginning were taken with my camera, then it stopped working and I got Darr's uncle camera. They start after the submarine shots.
So 16 shots with your camera and 20 shots with the uncle's. Darn it, Megan still wins. :)
