Stanley Cup Finals

Vancouver is in the finals this year against Boston. I confess I don't watch much Hockey any more, spending my time at Timbers matches. But this year ... man ... both teams got to the finals by winning in Game 5 double overtime. Amazing.

I was telling a buddy of mine the other day that I could turn on a game and be right back in it. If you watch the video below, it might help explain what it is like to be a Hockey fan in Canada.

It's a shot of the city when Vancouver scored a goal with 14 seconds left ... just to get into the aforementioned overtime.

Impossible not to be moved. I need to find a hockey bar in Portland! Any ideas readers?

Sadly, hockey isn't really on the radar locally, as if you haven't learned that already!

However, iffin ya need a fix, might I suggest the Portland Winterhawks? Granted, it's Junior hockey but the team had the fourth and fifth picks in the NHL Entry Draft last year (one I doubt will return this next season and he's only 18) and are slated for have FOUR players in the first round this year. Plus, the Hawks played for the WHL Championship a couple weeks ago. This is a awesome team that has gone from the bottom of the barrel to contenders in less than two years. Worth a look!
