Book twenty-three: A Visit from the Goon Squad

A very cool story about a set cast of characters that weave in and out of each other's lives over a lifetime. Although I really enjoyed parts of this book, I found it hard to focus enough energy on getting through it, which is why there was a fine from the library waiting for me at the end when I returned it. It sort of felt like just when I was getting into one character's story, Egan would switch to another. And this happened over and over again. So, while the pieces were brought together and enough was learned in each segment that you were able to figure things out and make the necessary connections, it seemed like more effort was needed than I was apparently willing to give. I think I was looking for a quick, entertaining read that required little to no effort and I ended up with a thought-provoking read.

23 down plus 29 and volume of the Norton Anthology of English Literature to go.
