Book six: Along Came a Dog by Meindert DeJong

Reading books to Hen is saving my butt this year because I am doing a horrible job reading for pleasure on my own. 

There is a surprising amount of action in this little book about a farm's chickens, a stray dog, and a farmer. This book is like Lord of the Flies with chickens. It's pretty cool that the relationship taking center stage has one little red hen and a big black dog.
