Book twenty-seven: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz

It is what the title states, a book with scary stories to tell in the dark. I can't say I'll be keeping the book in the house, though. The drawings by Stephen Gammell are too scary for me.

A personal favorite was The Babysitter. There is a babysitter and a couple of kids watching TV and they get a call. The stranger makes a threat of sorts. The call ends. This happens again and again over the course of a couple hours. When the babysitter has had enough, she calls the police and the operator says they'll trace the next call to see where it is coming from. The stranger calls again. The babysitter calls the operator and the operator says, "That person is calling from a telephone upstairs." Freaky. If this sounds familiar, there was a movie released in 1979 based on this theme called, When a Stranger Calls. Spooky.

27 down plus however many else I can finish in the next 24 hours.
