Book seven: Vanishing Acts by P. Margolin and Ann M. Rome

This is an ORCA nomineee book for 2014, in the upper elementary division. I probably shouldn't be all that surprised that I found it lacking in depth. But it is hard to imagine how this book and Liesl and Po are in the same category.

Motherless Madison Kincaid starts junior high but her friend, Ann, is missing and her father, a renowned defense attorney, is defending the man accused of murdering Madison's second grate teacher.  Add soccer try-outs and meeting a new boy - is a friend or is he a boyfriend? - she has a lot on her plate.

I probably would have liked this story a lot as a fourth/fifth grader.

7 down plus 45 to go.
