This book was on hold for me at the library, and even though I don't remember putting it on hold, I'm very happy I did.
Dept. of Speculation is new and fresh and wonderful and painful and hopeful. It is written in the form of small snippets that comprise chapters and tell the story of this one wife and her husband. Later there is a child and bedbugs and an affair. There is confrontation and avoidance. Love and hate. Blaming and forgiveness.
It was a delight to read. This is Offill's second novel, I shall look up and read her first. You should too.
10 down plus 42 to go. (Well, 52 if I hope to do as well as last year.)
