As noted by other readers, this book has a dream-like, ethereal quality. It follows 20-something Isabel throughout her day. It centers on her career in books (who won't love that!?), examines her relationship with a soldier who reenlists, and is set in Portland. As a Portlander, I always enjoy stories in which I can feel a direct connection with the location.
