Recipe Corner: Easy red sauce

It really does not get any easier than this. 

1-28oz can of whole peeled tomatoes
5 tbls unsalted butter
1 med. onion, peeled and cut in half
pinch of salt (optional*)
parmesan (optional†)

Combine all ingredients in a 2-3 quart saucepan. Bring to a near boil, reduce heat, and simmer for approximately 45 minutes. Stir occasionally and use the back of a wooden spoon to break down the tomatoes. 

Serves over cooked pasta with or without parmesan. So yummy!

*We didn't need it.
†We totally use cheese. Because cheese is good.
