I mixed this book up with a recently published similarly titled The Girl on the Train - I knew a train was involved - but apparently this was a pretty big hit in its day. Published in 1950, this drama, thriller, mystery is a story about two men who meet on a train. The slightly off fellow throws out this idea that they exchange murders since he wants to get rid of his dad and the guy he just met has mentioned how much easier his life would be if his ex was no longer a part of it. The idea is floated but never agreed to and yet an accident befalls Guy's ex-wife shortly after this encounter. And Guy is left to wonder if this stranger on the train was responsible.
The book is a page turner, what can I tell you?
