Beginning on the day the jury in the Rodney King trial came back with not guilty verdicts, Gattis' novel focuses on the crimes that took place over the next seven days of rioting, when gangs settled old scores, firemen were attacked, taggers painted the city, an innocent man's death sent a message, and government resources were stretched too thin to catch everyone.
A worthy read.
