A Bear and His Boy
What I love: "This is the story of a bear named Mack, who woke up one morning with a boy on his back." The author has two other books in the same vein - A Boy and His Bunny and A Girl and Her Gator. Check them out.
What Henry loves: The boy being on the bear's back.
Adelaide
What I love: Seriously, a kangaroo with wings? How cool is that? The drawings are subtle. The story is sweet.
What Hen loves: Pretty much any animal that flies and sort of looks like a dinosaur.
Foxy and Egg
What I love: Everything. This is a great book to read out loud. The illustrations are most excellent. Also, the fox's name is Foxy DuBois, which is just awesome, don't ya think?
What Henry loves: The surprise ending. This story does not go down like you think it will.
I Need My Monster
What I love: The concept. It is so cool to change up the monster-child dynamic so that the child actually bonds to the monster. And no other monster will do.
What Henry loves: The various substitute monsters that try to fill in when Gabe's monster goes fishing. Scary stuff!
The Sandwich Swap
What I love: The illustrations of the girls. They are so cute! Also, the subtle way in which the different cultures are handled.
What Henry loves: Two words - food fight.
