Book twenty-seven: Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren

Hen thoroughly enjoyed the crazy adventures of this little red-haired girl strong enough to lift a horse off her front porch and who lived with a monkey called Mr. Nilsson. It was a fun read. And it is great as a parent to see the transformation in his reading preferences. We are slowly, very s l o w l y, moving away from traditional picture books and heading into "real" books. Pippi is not his first but his attention is far more and when I stop during the chapter to ask a question, like who does Pippi live with or what are the names of her next-door neighbors, he is quick to answer and even quicker to request that I continue the story.

27 down plus 25 to go.
