Disney, day one

Hen and I got up early in the morning, grabbed some beignets in downtown Disney, stood in line, and then hit Disney California. We very much wanted to go to Cars Land. Or rather, I very much wanted to visit Cars Land. We met up with Damian, Megan, and Avery in the late morning/early afternoon. Our longest wait was for Radiator Springs Racers (see pic below). I think we were in line for nearly/just about/slightly over an hour in very hot weather. It was worth it. With two smaller kids, you have to stop for lots of reasons - potty breaks, hunger, hydration, skinned knees from falls, etc. - but we still were able to do the following:
  • Tuck and Roll's Drive 'Em Buggies
  • Heimlich's Chew Chew Train
  • Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
  • Luigi's Flying Tires
  • Radiator Springs Races (Hen and I did this twice)
  • Jumpin' Jellyfish
  • The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure

We stopped at the Pacific Wharf Café for lunch and the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop because you can't not stop at the chocolate shop, right?

The Smiths headed out of the park near dinnertime but Hen and I kept on going and managed to also ride on:
  • Mickey's Fun Wheel
  • Goofy's Sky School (Note to self: Do not get on the plane if Goofy is your pilot.)
  • King Triton's Carousel
  • Soarin' Over California (Twice, this ride is surprisingly awesome!)
  • Grizzly River Run
AND...

wait for it...

Hen went with me on the...

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror! Eeeek! And he didn't even scream at all.

It was one very awesome first day of Disney.

Except for, um, the puking. I got a text toward the end of the evening from Megan saying they were back at the hotel and asking if I could please bring up some water and milk. She was sick. I lost count of how many times that poor woman barfed. What I can recall is the near Stand By Me moment we had when, me in the shower, Megan at the head puking, I started to feel my own retch reflex start to kick in. Lucky for me, I had trying to find the lever that would turn the shower on to figure out. (For the longest time I was just standing in the tub with the water running from the faucet. It wasn't like I was going to ask Sicky McSickerson to come and assist.) Eventually, we all fell asleep. Most of us stayed asleep and didn't vomit. And then it became day two... (to be continued)

Did you get a chance to check out the Lego store in Downtown Disney?

Betty - but of course! I'm not quite sure how this happened but we got out of there with no purchases. This might be because I already have three boxes in the condo for the upcoming birthday and Christmas. The dragon from Sleeping Beauty was on the top of the store breathing fire. That was pretty cool.

Hen left a voice mail for me, it was him screaming: We went on the tower and I didn't even scream at all!
