Ms. DiCamillo is such a fantastic storyteller. And her 2014 Newberry Medal winning book, Flora & Ulysses, does not disappoint.
A poetry-writing squirrel? A romance novelist mother with a fascination for a particular doll-shaped lamp? A daughter trying to deal with the separation of her parents and the obnoxious kid who has just shown up next door with trauma-induced blindness? These characters tell a tale of intrigue and danger and triumph and acceptance and love. A definite book to share with Hen. (I read this by myself this time.)
56 down and still going strong.
