Holy shitballs! Wow! The revelations in this book are just...holy schnikes!
Wambach is amazing but it has not been an easy road for the poor woman. She learned pretty early on in her career that the talent she had was something she had to give her life to, and that lead to a love-hate relationship with soccer. Imagine if you were phenomenally gifted at something and because of that gift you couldn't explore other options, you were pinned down to this one thing? Of course that could make you resentful at times. But she also understands how lucky she is and how much soccer has given back to her.
It was heartbreaking to hear how much self-doubt she had. I mean, she's Abby Wambach for Christ's sake. This book, because of Wambach's brutal honesty, teaches us that no one is perfect, everyone has struggles, and that we can always seek to be better than we are.
60 down and still reading!
