Sinking feeling

It isn't so much that Obama is going to win the nomination, because I'll be happy if he does, but that he will lose the election in the fall. How lucky for him that Clinton is around so he and everyone else will have someone to blame.

I feel for you, Christie. I was actually starting to wonder if maybe, just maybe, it would be better for Clinton to get the nomination. At least, when the election gets stolen in the fall, Clinton would have the obsessiveness to force recounts until the very last ballot was counted. Heck, even after the Supreme Court ruled on it, she would probably be there telling 'em to count again. One has to admire her tenacity. I hope Obama has as much come the jack attempts.

Really? You think he'd lose?
I have a feeling it doesn't matter which one of them gets the nomination - a democrat is going to win in the fall. But then again, I don't follow politics nearly as much as you do.

I agree-- Obama is going to get blasted for being "soft on terror" and not ready to handle domestic and international crises. I really feel like McCain is going to hang Obama out to dry :( Unfortunately there are still enough people in this country who will jump whenever the republicans say boo. And good lord, still people who say they would vote for Bush again. Fear-based elections... wouldn't our founding fathers be embarassed.

i'm starting to suspect this is a brilliant Democratic ploy to keep all focus away from McCain (who is that again? You mean there is another candidate for president besides Hilbama?) He's just an afterthought in all press these days. And whoever does clinch the nomination (keeping fingers crossed!!!) is already seasoned in campaigning tooth-and-nail. So let's keep the ball rolling, I sez.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ -- why couldn't HRC have left this for Bill to say (then deny the next day):

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

Bringing up race, when your opponent is working at (and getting positive press attention for) avoiding racial division, is the kind of thing you want a throwaway member of your staff to say as a message, then fire 'em to show it "offends" you.

Gawd, I'm hating that I'm starting to think this way. The stench of politics is becoming overwhelming. Too bad there's no such thing as political FeBreeze. Why does honestly usually seem to involve firearms and your own damned feet?

Puchies:

"“I’m so grateful to all of you for letting us have this conversation,” Mrs. Clinton said softly at an afternoon event, speaking to a group in which reporters outnumbered supporters by at least 3 to 1."

Reminds me of the Harvard Lampoon's "Bored of the Rings" which had a line that read, if memory serves, "No one spoke and the room fell strangely silent."

Looks like you'll get to vote for your chosen champion/heroine, and that's a good thing.
