No news is good news

Henry's bone marrow test is done and we are now waiting for results. When the gang of peds doctors came through this morning on rounds they did mention, much to our relief, that Henry is not presenting like someone with leukemia. Woot!

Monsieur Henry was a super champ when it came time to get sedated for his procedure this afternoon. He was napping in my arms and the anesthesiologist was like "this may sting and wake him up but he's going to get immediately droopy in your arms when I push this." Like dead-to-the-world droopy. Henry went under without waking up and stayed that way until after the procedure was over. (It took about 25 minutes.) As he was waking up he was a bit rummy and quite hungry. He drank a lot of milk and then started to tentatively play with his toys. He was particularly excited by the appearance of a new dragon from his best pal Miss E.B. (I'm quite sure he's named the dragon Beowulf.)

We send our thanks to everyone who has sent us well wishes and healthy vibes for Henry. And many thanks in particular to the following folks - Brother Nick, Megan, and Miss Amelia Jane for agreeing to watch Beauty the wonder dog for us; to Sara, Josh, and Noodle for bringing us a bag o' goodies yesterday and lunch today; to Sara, Megan, and Tanya for the gift certificate to Delivered Dish (the food we can have delivered is much better than the stuff available at the cafeteria); and to Ms. A, Miss E.B., and Brian for introducing Henry to Beowulf and dropping off chocolates for us. I'll be sure to eat my share so Henry gets chocolate-flavored milks from mom.

Yeah! Sounds like some great news. Dr. Nazemi is the attending this week and is a good friend of ours. You're in the best of hands. And trust me, although the oncology floor is a scary place to be, it's oodles nicer than the general peds floor. Like the supplies-aren't-locked-up-nicer. Hang in there, answers are on the way soon!

Whew! I presume that there was nothing in the preliminary findings, and therefore we'll be waiting for the full analysis? How did little Henry do - I'm sure that procedure was very painful. Luckily, kids are so resiliant!
In the meantime, is Henry to stay in the hospital?
Let us know what we can do.
Our thoughts are with you.

Dragons are vigilant defenders of babies. Remember Elliot in Pete's Dragon?

I'm so glad you can nurse him through this! breastfeeding is a wonderful thing!

I agree with zozopdx - breastfeeding is great right now - besides all the good stuff he's getting from your milk - it must be so comforting to him (and you).
I'm so glad to hear it's not the L-word, but now I'm just wondering, like I'm sure you are, well then, what the heck IS it?
My thoughts have been with Henry all day today...

The doc did mention something earlier but then he quickly told us to forget it and specifically advised us not to google it. Darr took this to mean it was bad. I prefer to think the doc just doesn't want us out and about on Google trying to diagnose Henry ourselves.

Yeah - google can be scary sometimes...
