Somewhere in South America, at the home of the country's vice president, a lavish birthday party is being held in honor of the powerful businessman Mr. Hosokawa. Roxane Coss, opera's most revered soprano, has mesmerized the international guests with her singing. It is a perfect evening - until a band of gun-wielding terrorists takes the entire party hostage.
The only other book we brought with us is a nearly 700+ monstrosity of a novel by Richard Russo. The books read per month count is slowing to a near glacial pace, although the completion of book 13 marks the halfway point. 13 down, 13 to go.

maybe I should give this one another pass. I've started it before at the recommendation of another friend, and could not get excited about it.
Bel Canto is my favorite book ever ever ever. LOVE IT.
I'm pretty sure that 1/2 way through a year-long goal at the beginning (beginning!) of March is not often considered glacial, my dear.
But, to each their own, I guess.
I pegged Christie as an over-achiever a long time ago.
