Book forty-four: Look at Me by Jennifer Egan

I started this book thinking I'd really like it and then it went weird and by the end I was just annoyed. To think I have to pay a $0.25 fine because I kept it a day past the due date to finish. Ugh. Is it just me or is it now in vogue to have some form of a terrorist character - a suspected terrorist, a real terrorist, a guy from a terrorist country. Egads, people. There aren't that many terrorists running around. And there is always some tenuously weird tie-in this character has to the main story, except Updike's Terrorist, which I thought was superb. If this trend is large enough part of the legacy of 9/11 will be a genre of poorly written literature incorporating a terrorist plot. (Again, excepting Updike, which you have to do because, um, it's frakkin' Updike.)

26 down, plus 18.
