The Mexico! 2011

Things that are wonderful about the Mexico! when there are no kids around include the following:

  1. there are no kids around
  2. you can take naps because there are no kids around
  3. you can drink freely because there are no kids around
  4. you can chat with your friends without interruptions because there are no kids around
  5. you can read books because there are no kids around
  6. you can drink and nap and chat and read because there are no kids around
  7. there are no kids around
I don't know if there is anything we could have done to make our trip to the Mexico! any better than it was. It was AWESOME. I learned, in particular, that you can mix tequila with pretty much any soda and it tastes great. Who knew? Perhaps it is because we are (slightly) older and (definitely) wiser, because we didn't have to deal with any crazy female drama. Or any drama of the non-crazy type, either. Often, we were scattered around the casa each doing our own thing. We usually came together in time to head out for food and we all pitched in to help keep the place in relative order. Of course, there were pictures...

UPDATE: I should note, as Lori pointed out, that one very big plus to coming home from such a trip is the incredible overwhelming sense of pure joy that you feel the moment you see your kid. I hardly recognized Hen. I swear he looked two years older, his hair seemed three inches longer, and his conversation had made immeasurable leaps in scope and content. I picked him up from his papa's arms and held him tight and he melted into me as I was enveloped with his Henry boy smells. He kept patting me - my head, my face, my arm. And he was full of smiles. And that made the homecoming dang near perfect. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am.

Sounds pretty darn perfect! And absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

AMAZING pictures. I'm so lucky to have so many great photographer friends. You are able to capture Loreto Bay in a way that I never could.

It's funny because I felt like Avery had matured way more than just the five days we were gone.
