I can't say much about this book now because I read it for our book club meeting next month. As a result of reading it, though, I am donating money to the scholarship fund created by the author to help benefit the descendants of Henrietta Lacks. A Google search showed that HeLa cells were used in studies of every scary disease doctors thought Henry might have back when his neutrophils took a nosedive, and HeLa cells were used to help develop vaccines that Henry has received. If you feel your family has benefitted from scientific research in the past 60 years, I invite you to do the same. Donations can be made at The Henrietta Lacks Foundation.
12 down plus 40 and volume 1 of the Norton Anthology of English Literature to go.

I totally want to read this book. I've used HeLa cells (hasn't every cancer researcher?) Sounds like it had a strong impact on you. You're quite the science reader lately!
