I am not sure what the heck happened today but I ended up checking Barbra Streisand's My Passion for Design book out from the library. The rental car I was driving a few weeks ago had XM radio and during one of my many three hour drives out to the beach, I caught an Oprah show where Barbra Streisand was discussing her book. It's a book she wrote outlining her process in overhauling this piece of land she bought.
The amount of money she has, if this book is any testament, must be staggering. Like, you know she's an über wealthy individual but, holy schnikes, the things she has and can buy or have made. It was somewhat shocking the few times in the book she mentions having to let something go because she couldn't get what she wanted. That happens to Babs? I did learn about milk paint and now I'm thinking I might have to get some to paint something in our house. You have to keep it in the fridge when you aren't painting. How cool is that?
As a designer, she's considerate on a level that borders obsessive but I found myself really enjoying the pics of her monochromatic rooms, and I thought it was really interesting that she spent so much effort on doors. In her house, doors are different on each side to coordinate with the design of each room.
24 down plus 28, and, oh who am I kidding? I'm not finishing up the Norton Anthology of English Lit this year.
