Turns out you can take an iPhone photography class even if you don't have an iPhone*. For most of the info, I was able to work on my iPod that I had loaded with photos from my library at home. There were a few apps Jan went over in class that I was not able to get. It wouldn't let me download them because my iPod doesn't have a camera. Sigh.
I'm super excited at having these new tools at my disposal. You can make things look old, new, and everything in between. My favorite app is probably Camera+ (although I suspect that will change when/if I get an iPhone because Hipstamatic is beyond awesome). That clarity button alone made the class worthwhile. Of course, I have examples...

I found Hen lying on the bed like this when I went into the room to go to sleep. Edited in Camera+ using Fashion from the Retro options. I also applied a thin white border. |

Sea of Cortez. Edited in Camera+ using Clarity twice, meaning I saved it after the first clarity edit, imported it a second time, and applied clarity again. I also applied a thin white border.

A view of Loreto Bay. Edited in Camera+ using Clarity. I also applied a thin white border. |

A weird looking tree in the Mexico! Edited in Camera+ using Clarity. I added the Styled border called Instant and the text. |
I'm also on Instagram now! Gentle readers who wish to follow me can search for justchristieglynn to find me. I gravitate towards Earlybird, Brannan, Lo-fi, and Walden when editing in Instagram. Of course, there are examples...

Avery and Hen at the Loreto Bay Inn fountain. Edited in Instagram applying the Earlybird filter. |

Avery collecting shells. Edited in Instagram applying the Lo-fi filter. |
Photogene2 is like having a mini version of Photoshop (or PSE) on your iPhone/iPad/iPod. You can adjust pretty much anything - crop, contrast, sharpness, tint, etc. And it has its own filters, including this cool one of which there is, of course, an example...

Hen is holding a very small sea urchin. Edited in Photogene2 using Clarity and adding the Comics filter. |
I captured this photo using Hipstamatic at the skatepark under Burnside bridge. Since we just watched Star Wars (Episode IV) for the first time with Hen last weekend, it seemed particularly relevant to me. Here's my one Hipstamatic example...

Since I don't have that app on my iPod, I can't review what filter was applied, what lens was used, and what film. But I think it was set on Ina (something) and, yeah, no, I can't remember. |
*Many thanks to Stacey for agreeing to let me use her iPhone even though I didn't get my act together before the class date to make that happen. Giving up your phone for the day is generous to the nth degree. Many thanks to Teacher Amy and Amber for stopping to explain certain things about these apps and for the occasional use of the iPhone so I could follow along. Many thanks to Jan for lending me her phone during the class. And many thanks to my husband for watching the littles (cousin Mia visited us yesterday for a sleepover) while I was away from the condo. You all rock.

I looked at my calendar on Saturday--on my phone!--and thought, "Wait, Christie is supposed to have this thing!" Sorry we didn't work that out, but glad the class was so great anyway. Fantastic photos, as always.
