Future dwelling

Perhaps it is the thought of living through four years of round-the-clock* construction that is running directly through property we used to own, until the city used eminent domain to take it from us, that has us thinking of escape. Or maybe it is the realization that Darr's ski hobby is here to stay and soon Bean will likely be joining him on the mountain every winter weekend for months on end. Or maybe it is just because. Whatever the reason, we have started perusing Windemere's site in search of land and/or a cabin on land that brings us closer to Mt. Hood. And now, I have found us the house. HOW CUTE IS THIS THING? I mean, seriously? Can you handle it? I told Darr it would be necessary to get a ladder so during the holiday season I could put lights in that square window in the front. It is 1200 square feet of awesome. Two bedrooms (perfect!), 1.5 baths (I can live with that), and it has these huge sliding doors on each side so during the summer months you can basically open up the house to the outdoors.

*I'm not joking when I say "round-the-clock". The city has just approved the first of what I'm sure will be many noise ordinance exceptions. And when I say it is running through what used to be our property, I mean it is coming within four feet of our building. Oy vey.

It's so adorable I can't stand it. Oh the crafty things you could do with that square window.

Sounds like you've been hit by eminent domain twice, then... once for whatever easement was taken for the construction and now again by the exemption from the noise laws (I think there's a good case that the exemption comprises a "taking" in that the value of the property is decreased thereby). And yet I suspect you'll get bupkes for this new intrusion.

From the pitch of the roof, it looks like that's in serious snow country. Is this along route 26 (I think that's the road to Mt. Hood)?

No comment on the noise and inconvenience issue, but holy do I love that house! Can we be your backwards neighbors who live in an airstream?

@Dr.A - Yes.

@Bruce - That's a house without a home. Those are plans only. We're thinking along Hwy 35, which is the north side of Mt. Hood. A longer drive, but better summers.

We're still very much in the thinking phase tho'.
