A Kick-Ass night

Wow. Our fourth (fifth?) real date since Henry was born came about because I have awesome friends who agree to watch my child on fairly short notice after Darr happens to mention he found a movie he'd like to catch in the theatres. (This is a rarity.) The Wagners were selected because they live the closest to us and we sort of figured since they have three of their own, Henry would be more likely to blend in. As in, what fourth kid? We hit Nostrana for dinner. The same place we went last time we had a night out but missed our movie because we were so thoroughly enjoying our leisurely eating pace at the restaurant. But this time we were committed to actually seeing the movie so we let our server know about our plans while ordering. It was gnocchi Thursday so we tried some of that - solidly good, I'd probably order it again but next time I'd go with the tomato option - along with two appetizers (spinach flan in a tomato sauce and brown rice fritters) and the Bistecca alla Fiorentina (a 2-inch thick Porterhouse steak). It was a kick-ass meal. We got to the theatres with of time to spare so I texted Amber to see if she needed a rescue. When we got the green light to go ahead with the movie, we settled in to watch Kick-Ass, a surprisingly violent yet entertaining flick worthy of our date night. Henry was still going when we arrived at their house to pick him up shortly after 10pm. Many, many thanks to the Wagners for watching the wee one. We now owe them a GARGANTUAN, Don Corleone-type favor.

Kick-Ass indeed! It was totally our pleasure and all the kids loved having Henry over. Their only request was that next time he comes over earlier (or on a non-school-night) because we make them go to bed too early and they didn't have much time to play with him. He's a funny guy--and he'll repeat just about anything you say to him, just FYI. :)
