My dad would be so proud

Our new bed came today. Christie made heroic efforts to get that thing together, but one piece just wouldn't fit. A combination of the bolt being a little bit too short, the washer being a little bit too thick or the nut being a little bit too inset.

Now, this problem piece is one of six "identical" pieces that form the main support structure. They are 1x12s, and have a notch indicating the top (for the outside rails) and a hole on the inside for you to put a thread/washer combination to attach the piece to the center support that runs top to bottom. Anybody who has assembled anything from IKEA has dealt with these.

Anyway, so all of these pieces are identical except for our problem piece -- turns out the eyehole for attaching the outer rail is on the wrong flipping side. So yeah, probably the original piece failed quality control and they grabbed a replacement, but the replacement was from a different run and didn't quite match. Those bastards.

So all that aside we have the following options: (1) abandon or (2) make it work.

If you know my dad at all you must know (1) was never an option. So out comes the Skil Saw, and 15 min later ... all better.

We didn't get one from IKEA. We got this one: http://www.designpublic.com/mash-studios-lax-storage-platform-bed

If it was from IKEA, all the parts would have fit! Still, it's real wood, made from trees. That's pretty much bonus. So yeah, the materials quality is excellent but I just don't think they have the self-assembly design control.
