Family values: Who has them?

What exactly does "family values" mean? As far as I can tell, the party that claims to be all about being good, moral folks with strong, conservative family values have a lot of members whose actions speak louder than their words. The latest who can add his name to the list of "Whoops, I transgressed," is U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.). He has admitted he is linked to a Washington escort service that prosecutors allege is a prostitution ring, though he denies having actual relationships with any of the prostitutes. Click here to read about other scandals. (I'm aware Dems cheat, too. And yes, Bill did. I think it is probably safe to say that neither is any better than the other. It's the hypocrisy that bugs me.)

If you haven't been watching Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, you might want to try it. Here's the most recent example of the excellent banter between two of the characters on the show:

Matt [Democrat]: "You think I have contempt for my government?"
Harriet [Republican]: "Yeah."
Matt: "Harry, if I do, it ain't nothing compared to the contempt my government has for me."
Harriet: "Your government doesn't know who you are."
Matt: "I know. But that doesn't stop them from getting votes by calling me a lazy, pampered, anti-American, anti-family, immoral, perverted, dishonorable, weak fairy."

Yeah, we've been enjoying the remaining episodes they had filmed this summer. Perhaps we should start a letter writing campaign to get them back. It worked for Jericho.
